Although the 'virtual haircut' is quite comedic and more of a gimmick, the way that you can sense direction is something I'd really like to explore in our piece.

After thinking of the best way to capture the atmosphere of the location I came up with the idea of having a recording follow a person. In a way that felt like the listener is taking the trip to Devonshire Green and experiencing it first hand. This idea was inspired by these examples of sound work. The recording is very realistic and it gives the feel that you are somewhere or somebody else, hearing through different ears.

An example of the kind of sounds we aim to capture.
*Hopefully in far better quality
Skateboarding has some extremely distinctive and recognisable sounds.
Using the Marantz 660 with the Rode NT4 mic we can capture them in stereo and be able to hear exactly were they are, giving the piece a very real atmosphere.

Devonshire Green
Our sound piece is going to be set at Devonshire Green skatepark in Sheffield.
Took a trip there earlier in the week to have a look and a listen. Found that it seems to be a lot busier later in the day when it's dark. This would be an ideal time to record as the park is busy but the surroundings are not, meaning there will be less background noise and unwanted sound.

Sense of Space
Our idea for our Sense of Space project is to try and capture the atmosphere of a Skatepark.
Focusing on the unique style and sound of skateboarding. We are hoping to capture it in a unique and creative way rather than the stereotypical quick and loud way it is more commonly presented. We're aiming to have a much more relaxed atmospheric piece that is still interesting to listen to.
